hortari (lat., verb) :
to gently encourage growth, expression, or exploration.
Welcome!
Hey you, I'm so glad to meet you!
Welcome to this project :)
Rooted in Amsterdam, Hortari Yoga Studio invites you to slow down, flow, breathe, meet yourself and others… and simply be. Whether you’re in a period of transition, searching for answers, or simply longing for a little more softness in your life, you are in the right place.
Here, there’s nothing to prove and no one to impress. Just space to land exactly as you are, with your own rhythm, your story, and your sensitivity. It’s a place to find connection, not just with yourself, but with a community that welcomes you as you are.

My mission

With Hortari, I want to offer gentle, honest ways to explore, feel, and reconnect with your inner ecology.
The yoga I teach is progressive and inclusive. By using levels, options, and props, I ensure that the practice is accessible to everyone. There is no competition and no "showing off" here; we are simply together to stretch, laugh, and clear out the mental "noise" that pollutes our daily lives.
I like calling Hortari a "beej project" (beej = seed in Sanskrit). It's a little seed I planted the moment I arrived in Amsterdam, and one I hope to see grow alongside you.
I chose the name Hortari not only because it’s the title of a Worakls song that I loves and gives me so much energy, but because of its deeper meaning: to urge, to encourage, and to exhort.
My mission is to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, but always with kindness, exploring the unknown and challenging yourself without ever forcing or pushing beyond your limits.

Why Hortari exists?
I won't lie to you: there was a time when I felt completely lost in my life and deeply isolated. It was during that low point, in the middle of that "emptiness," that my little seed (my 'beej' :)) began to sprout.
When I moved to Amsterdam, I was struck by the incredible diversity of people here. However, I soon realized that despite being in such a busy city, true connection is hard to find. In most studios, people practice for an hour or 90min, change, and leave immediately.
I found this a bit heartbreaking. In an ultra-connected world, we are often so disconnected in real life. I wanted to break through this individualism and help people reconnect through the heart of yoga.
Yoga, as described in the Indian philosophy, is a tool to "quiet the fluctuations of the mind" ("Yogaś citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ", Sutra 1.2). Rather than just emptying the mind, I see it as a great tool to welcome something new and great to us. We empty the cup to make room for the things that truly make us happy: connecting with others, being true to ourselves, being content with the simplest things... :) That is the "raison d'être" of Hortari and especially of the Yoga Social Club: creating a space where the flow doesn't end on the mat, but continues through conversation, a shared tea, and a real human connection. :)
There is much to come... so stay tuned!
