A FEW LINES ABOUT THE ORIGINS

MEET EMMA
THE đ«đ· LCA ENGINEER WHO DEDICATED HER WORK TO ECOLOGY - BOTH IN THE WORLD AROUND US AND THE WORLD WITHIN OURSELVES.
At a pivotal moment in my life, I found myself feeling lost and overwhelmed. I’ve always been someone who thrives in chaos, constantly moving, creating, and doing. But that high-energy drive came at a cost... until yoga found me.
Practice taught me to stop identifying solely with what I produce, to quiet a very active inner critic (a relationship I’m still navigating every day!), and to ask what truly matters in life.
â
Since then, I believe that true sustainability starts within. When we learn to care for our own well-being, that care naturally ripples outward to our communities and the planet. This core belief led me to become a certified Yoga Teacher alongside my background in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and industrial sustainability. Wanting to bridge the gap between mindfulness and real-world connection, I built Hortari from scratch in Amsterdam - a space designed to help people move, slow down, and form genuine bonds.
â
On the technical side, I love turning complex environmental data into clear, engaging stories (whether through visual tools, newsletters, comic strips, board games, or simplified frameworks that make sustainability accessible and collaborative).
â
My work sits at the intersection of this unique triptych: rigorous technical expertise, creative storytelling, and authentic human connection.
Bridging these worlds is what keeps every single day fun, meaningful, and deeply rewarding. đ
