🧭 Coming Back to My Why: How Yoga Helped Me Reconnect to What Truly Matters (And why I’m writing this series)

In a fast-paced world — saturated with information, pressure to succeed, and carefully curated lives on social media — it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters.

Yes, it can even happen that we forget why we fell in love with something that once made us so passionate we gave it our all.

Why we chose this path over another. Why we kept going, despite the obstacles.

As my brother — a passionate cooper at Hennessy and winner of the Meilleur Apprenti de France award — once told me:

“Passion needs care. If I didn’t put in some effort to nurture it, it would fade.”

And science agrees: passion isn’t constant. It’s a sacred fire that must be continuously fueled.

What sustains motivation over the long run is what psychologists call intrinsic motivation — the kind that springs from values, meaning, curiosity, and joy (Deci & Ryan, 2000).

And that fuel only lasts if you stay connected to your Why.

Your Why is your inner compass.

Your guiding thread.

What gives meaning to your steps — even when they’re uncertain.

When you're building a path that aligns with who you are — especially in a vocation like yoga — your Why becomes more than a personal driver.

It becomes the foundation of your voice, your posture, your offerings, your presence.

It’s what draws the right people toward you.

It’s what gives your entire project coherence, depth, and direction.

✨ Welcome to My Mini-Series 6 Unexpected Benefits of Yoga That Transformed My Life — and Revealed My Why

🎯 Why this series?

I’m writing this series for two reasons:

  • For you, if you're exploring yoga or simply curious about what led me there;

  • And for myself, to honor and remember my own Why, as a compass I can return to when doubt knocks at the door.

⚠️ A little heads-up: I’m sharing deeply personal experiences here. Each article explores a profound — and sometimes surprising — transformation that yoga has brought into my life.

But if any part of my journey resonates with you… then maybe it will speak to you too, and even help you. That’s my deepest hope 🙏

Whether you're a yoga teacher, a practitioner, or simply curious to learn more, I’m so glad you're here. I truly hope you’ll enjoy reading this series as much as I’ve loved writing it. 😇

A gentle note before you dive into the overview:

🪷 Take your time. Explore freely. Come back whenever you feel the need.

Like yoga itself, this series is here for you to move through at your own pace.

✨ And maybe — just maybe — it will help you reconnect to your Why, too.

Namaste 🙏

Emma
